Thigh lift

A thigh lift is a surgical procedure indicated to redefine the profile of the thighs when the skin has lost elasticity and tone.

Sagging skin can be caused by:

  • the natural aging process;
  • significant weight loss;
  • pregnancy.

Intervention

The thigh lift is usually performed under general anesthesia with hospital admission or, more rarely, as a day hospital procedure.

The duration of the procedure can vary between 2 and 3 hours.

Incisions are made in the upper leg, in the lateral pubic and inguinal regions, through which the skin is “pulled” upwards.

After removing the excess skin, the skin is fixed with stitches in its new position.

The operating room

After a thigh lift, it is normal for the treated area to be sore and for bruising and swelling to occur, including on all of the legs and in the genital area.

This can initially make walking and sitting difficult.

For about three weeks you will need to wear a compression garment day and night.

In the days immediately following surgery, thorough personal hygiene is important to avoid the risk of infecting the wounds.

Work, if it does not require excessive physical effort, can resume after the stitches are removed, which usually occurs between the seventh and fifteenth day.

For a month after surgery it is important to avoid intense physical effort and activity, abstain from sexual activity and exposure to the sun, tanning lamps and intense heat sources.
